Digital Negatives: Using Photoshop to Create Digital Negatives for Silver and Alternative Process Printing
Focal Press; 1 edition (November 28, 2006) | English | 0240808541 | 224 pages | PDF | 18.73 MB

Eagerly awaited, clear step-by-step instructions for how to work with digital negatives to produce excellent quality prints for silver and alternative processes.
Digital Negatives: Using Photoshop to Create Digital Negatives for Silver and Alternative Process Printing bridges the world of traditional photographic printing with digital technology. A digital negative, prepared in Photoshop, allows you to skip the dark room time developing the negatives-getting straight to a variety of printing processes including silver, platinum, and a host of other "alternative" processes. You will see this as an opportunity to mix technology with traditional photo processes resulting in more time for your art! In the recent past, photographers that wanted digital negatives had to take their business to labs. Now all of you Photoshop users can incorporate this practice into your workflow of choice.

· Easy, quick start recommendations for specific supplies and instructions for making your first print quickly without all the details of calibrating digital negatives.
· Offers expert instruction for the more advanced; much of the book will be focused on how to calibrate digital negatives, configure a digital darkroom, and fine tune prints from digital negatives
· Adventurous, experimental techniques take printing using alternative processes into new options including toning, multiple printing, printing with ink and platinum, plus others.

Medium and Large Format Photography: Moving Beyond 35mm for Better Pictures

Medium and Large Format Photography: Moving Beyond 35mm for Better Pictures
by Roger Hicks and Frances Schultz

Amphoto Books | ISBN: 0817445579 | 2001 | 408 pages | PDF | 10,1 MB
This fine book by two accomplished photographers offers an excellent introduction to medium- and large-format photography. For 35mm photographers eager to move up, it is one of the few titles available about medium-format photography and the only recent one. The authors first discuss the many advantages of working with negatives and transparencies in formats larger than 35mm. They next deal with medium-format equipment, which uses roll film, and then large-format cameras, which rely on sheet film in various sizes, most often ranging from 4" 5" to 8" 10". Each of these chapters includes examples of some of the best equipment available in each category. There is also a separate chapter on lenses and accessories, including tripods, light meters, and filters, and another chapter devoted entirely to the darkroom. The book concludes with brief personal essays by each of the authors and appendixes that include information on Polaroid processes, custom cameras, and suggestions for making better photographs. This informative book is beautifully illustrated with examples of camera equipment and of excellent photographs. Appropriate for all libraries, especially public and academic libraries with good photography collections. Highly recommended. Raymond Bial, Parkland Coll. Lib., Champaign, IL.
